Our Story Since 1831
Seven Generations Passing Down
the Passion
for Good Bread
The story of our bakery began in 1831, alongside the birth of the Belgian State, when Charles Maurice Legrand opened the first Legrand shop in Monceau-sur-Sambre. Since then, his successors, Florestan, Georges Walter, Léon Maurice, and Guy, have upheld the name and legacy. Yet, we would do a disservice to history if we did not recognize that alongside the name Legrand, there are also the names of Marie Thérèse, Palmyre, Catherine, Paula, and Bernadette — the wives and mothers who brought life and continuity to the Legrand family.
Dedication and commitment were the companions of the women and men who gave life to a story of extraordinary longevity — one that continues today.
Today, we (Dominique, Angela, Pamela and Alexandre) keep the magic of freshly baked bread alive every day, letting its aroma drift through the air, one that will linger for a long time to come. For simple, good things don’t defy time, they walk alongside it.
